Sensitive teeth are usually the result of exposed tooth roots or worn tooth enamel. Tooth pain can be traced to cavities, cracked/chipped teeth, worn fillings, or gum disease.
There are small changes you can make to help your teeth out!
Gently Brush your teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Brushing too hard can do more damage than good; you may be hurting your gums and tooth enamel with overly vigorous brushing.
Go Easy On Acidic Foods. Take care when eating/drinking foods with a high acidic level (i.e. carbonated drinks, citrus fruits, and sour candies)—these can remove small amounts of tooth enamel. Use a straw to limit contact with your teeth.
Snack on These Instead: Fiber-rich fruits and vegetables (apples, carrots, and leafy greens), cheese, milk, and plain yogurt are fantastic for maintaining healthy teeth. These foods combat acid and bacteria that can eat away at your teeth!
Woes of Grinding and Clenching Teeth. Grinding wears away the enamel. Reducing stress levels is very helpful—try some yoga, meditation, or a relaxing hobby. If that doesn’t work, your dentist can fit you for your very own mouth guard. If you grind your teeth at night—don’t worry, we have a night guard for that as well!
