Composite Fillings
In our Brookline Dental Office, we treat our patients with composite fillings – or white fillings – when there is tooth decay, cracked or broken teeth, or worn down teeth. These natural looking fillings are not noticeable and continue to help you have a beautiful smile.
How Do I Know If I Have A Cavity?
When you come in for your regular exams, Dr. Juriansz checks your tooth surfaces with his instruments and also is able to detect decay in dental x-rays. One of the causes of cavities is tooth decay. When plaque forms and is left on your teeth, the acids from the plaque can dissolve the enamel surface of teeth creating caries (or holes). You can read more about tooth decay and the best way to avoid cavities from Dr. Juriansz here.
How Does Dr. Juriansz Place Composite Fillings?
A composite filling at Brookline Village Dental is treated in one appointment. While the tooth is numb, Dr. Juriansz removes the decay as necessary. The area is cleaned and carefully prepared before the composite resin is added. Once the composite is placed and shaped, the tooth is polished to return the tooth to it’s original shape and function.
Proper hygiene of brushing and flossing, along with regular professional teeth cleaning appointments, continue to be important following restorative treatment such as cosmetic fillings.
