Eating healthy for your body and teeth does not have to be as difficult as people make it out to be. Here is a list of some healthy alternatives to those greasy/sugary foods that won’t damage your teeth or hard work at the gym.

  • Just one piece of citrus fruit, such as oranges, grapefruits or tangerines, will help you meet the recommended daily dose of vitamin C. Those who eat less than 75 mg per day are 25% more likely to end up having gingivitis.
  • Apples, celery, and carrots are all great for your teeth because the texture helps to wipe away bacteria that causes plaque. The crunchier the fruit or vegetable, the better!
  • Smoothies are a great drink on a hot summer day because it’s helping you get your fruits in a delicious way! Try it with almond milk and try not to add sugar.
  • If you’re a tea drinker, black tea can be extremely beneficial to your teeth. University of Illinois College of Dentistry have done studies that show black tea can suppress the growth of cavities.
  • Nuts and seeds. They tend to replenish the minerals to the tooth enamel that acids remove.
